Hampden Estate is one of the oldest sugar estates in Jamaica still producing intensely flavourful pot still rum. A tour of the estate starts with a welcoming drink. Your guide will take you on a journey into the heart of the estate’s fermentation and distillation processes. The expertly guided 2-hour tour ends just as how it started – with a tasting of their award winning rum. Lunch is then served and if you’d like bottles of rum can be purchased at their gift shop.
The pot still rum has mostly been used by other local and international brands to flavour their own products. This is because Hampden uses a high ester rum production process that is responsible for its incredible aromatic characteristics. But since a public acquisition in 2009 the estate now bottles its own rum. The Hampden Estate rum tour is open to the public and usually accepts small group of 10 persons.
