AVOCAT FALLS

Avocat Falls better known as Fishdone Falls is not as popular as other falls in Jamaica but just as beautiful. This may be because this lovely gem is hidden away in coffee country, Blue Mountain. About two miles from Buff Bay, Portland Fishdone Falls is a perfect spot to relax. The uphill drive from Charles Town takes you to a bridge at Avocat overlooking the falls. This might be why it’s sometimes called Avocat but the name won’t matter when you get to the beautiful swimming pool. The falls runs through a private property so there’s more to do and see. Surrounded by a rainforest a visit is accompanied by a tour of the garden and small museum on the property. You’ll learn about the Maroon culture, historical artifacts, and herbs used in traditional Maroon medicine.
