Overlooking the Caribbean Sea approximately 10 km from Montego Bay is the Rose Hall Plantation. On the Plantation, the mid-19th century Georgian inspired Rose Hall Great House sits with terror and intrigue. The cut stone and stucco structure with a glorious mahogany staircase and doors was home to the infamous Annie Palmer known as the ‘White Witch’. Hers is the story that haunts the three storey grandeur. Originally from England, Annie later moved to Jamaica and married John Palmer, owner of the Rose Hall Plantation. She brought with her a hell house of atrocities that countless slaves and all three of her husbands including John Palmer fell prey to.

It is rumoured that even after her death she still roams the property. A day or night tour of the Great House gives a detailed history of the exquisite antique furnishings and the halls Annie Palmer use to occupy accompanied by her tumultuous story and complex love affairs. It is so detailed that you might feel Annie Palmer’s eyes following you while passing her picture or hear tapping on the walls. However, it is completely safe. In fact, the grounds have hosted several weddings and other events. The Great House is but one of the many attractions on the 6,600 acre Rose Hall Plantation.
