Old Tavern Coffee Estate in Jamaica’s Blue Mountain produces world class coffee. The owners, the Twayanns family, grow their beans organically and handpick them for perfection. Exploring from an altitude of 4000ft the tour include a view of the estate and roasting equipment as well as a leisurely chat with the owners of the estate. You’ll be treated to a lesson in the roasting process and type of roasts the estate produce. Enjoy a sample of their Arabica bean-roast at the end.
The Twayanns produce three types of roast; dark, medium-dark, and medium. They also produce the prized and rare peaberry bean variety that has a mild, unique flavour. Because it is a working facility prior arrangements is required before visiting. There is no fee to tour the facilities but after tasting and learning about the gourmet brew you’ll want to buy a few bags. You can also order online.
