Dunn’s River Falls is arguably the most popular tourist attraction in Jamaica. Located near Ocho Rios the 600ft falls is a national treasure and tourist pilgrimage. Throngs of people visit Dunn’s River for the exhilarating climb up the tiers of limestone and to hang out in the lagoons or pools along the way. Craved from the water current the pools and natural structures are shaded by a towering rainforest. This ebb also makes Dunn’s River one of the few rivers in the world that flows directly into the Caribbean Sea.

There are guides leading groups up and down the falls but aren’t mandatory (don’t forget to tip). Able-bodied persons can climb the falls with relative ease. The less adventurous can view the soothing falls from the terrace and decks. Other things to enjoy at Dunn’s River is the lush tropical foliage, restaurant selling authentic Jamaican meals, and browsing through the craft shops. To avoid some of the tourist crowd try visiting the falls when cruises aren’t docking or early morning. Bring your swimwear and cameras.
