On the road connecting Milk River and Alligator Pond is the beautiful Alligator Hole Wildlife Reserve. Alligator Hole is a small mangrove-lined river famous for its family of manatees and crocodiles that inhabit the area. The mangrove-lined river is fed by waters from the limestone hills and into the sea. The tour starts at the brightly painted visitor’s centre into an hour long trip around the mangrove with your guide.
The manatees are naturally shier than the crocodiles so a manatee sighting isn’t guarantee. When they do make an appearance it’s usually after 5pm. Your guide will ensure your safety on your boat trip out to see them. The entire region that Alligator Hole Wildlife Reserve is a part of is a protected area.
