Beach J’ouvert is a part of the carnival festivities during the February to April months. The paint and soca party has become a must attend event for carnival fans. Usually staged the Saturday before Easter Sunday j’ouvert brings together thousands of whining revellers throwing paint on each other. The fete also features live entertainment and has hosted some of the biggest stars on the soca scene. Some acts who brought the revelling to a peak are Machel Montano, Destra Garcia and the Atlantik Band, Kes the Band to name a few. The 2019 edition of beach j’ouvert was held at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in Priory Ocho Rios. After bringing j’ouvert to the seashore the festivities continue with other smaller parties in and around Ocho Rios.
